Bigger, better, and bolder. 50+ performances, 22 days, 11 venues.

World-class art, music and performance are set to rain down on Perth’s north from 15 March to 5 April, with rebels and revellers far and near invited to the party of the year. Queue the confetti cannons!

Consider the tea officially and unequivocally spilled as the entire program of festivities is now finally out of the bag! Three back-to-back weeks packed with over 50 free and ticketed happenings from our nation’s top-tier theatre-makers, performers and artists.

Embrace the unusual with carefully curated creations dotted across peculiar places throughout the region. From favourite flagships like Hillarys Boat Harbour to nostalgic nooks like Perth’s last surviving drive-in cinema.

First up, it’s FEAST – a truly unique sensory smorgasbord atop Joondalup Library’s open-air terraced concourse. Indulge in a mouthwatering selection of bushtukka-inspired produce and local produce from Noongar Boodjar, prepared by All Good Grub.

You can’t miss this year’s landmark digs. Plonked smack bang in the middle of Boas Ave stands The Cube – a curious cubic centrepiece that’s anything but square. Sidle down from 5pm every day of the festival to discover pop-up performances, tasty treats, boozy bevs and just hang out in this extraordinary ephemeral space. Pssst – don’t miss the Sunday swing sessions!

There’s something in the water at Hillarys, literally. Watch in awe as spiny, beady-eyed, Water Dragons – donned by jet-ski propelled puppeteers – glide ethereally through the harbour, complete with an epic light and soundscape.

Over the weekend, school’s out! Once that bell rings, head to the After School Club at St Stephen’s School state-of-the-art performance theatre in Duncraig for choice comedy, cabaret, circus and more.

It’s gotta end with a bang, right? How does a “friendly” dance battle royale sound? Warm up the hair rollers, hitch up those legwarmers, and crank up those 80s bangers for the Common People Dance Eisteddfod. Armed with hairspray, knee pads, and sweatbands, four teams of mighty suburban gladiators will meet at Craigie Leisure Centre to settle the score on the d-floor for Joondalup Festival’s last hoorah. Because who doesn’t secretly dream of being an eisteddfod star, right?

It’s all made possible through the support of the WA Government through Tourism Western Australia’s Metro Events Program, Lotterywest, Hillarys Boat Harbour, 7News, Mix94.5, Quest Joondalup, St Stephen’s School and Currambine Central.

There’s something for everyone in this year’s program. Come play!
