Star in the Dance Eisteddfod

We want to see you, yes YOU, on the d-floor at Joondalup Festival’s closing party!

31 years ago, Neridah Waters auditioned for her school rock eisteddfod and got brutally rejected. To this day, she still carries the bitterness of rejection in her lycra leotard. She’s even said to still experience phantom carpet burns from a childhood spent jazz knee-sliding in the living room.

Neridah decided to make her own dance eisteddfod. A dance-off like no other. One for people from different waltzes of life but with one thing in common …the capacity to cultivate unadulterated joy alongside a community of dance-loving legends.

The Common People Dance Eisteddfod is your big chance to live out your Dirty Dancing fantasy, awaken your Flashdance dreams or unleash your Super Freak routine – velcro pants optional. It’s not to be taken seriously, but it will be seriously awesome.

Claim your spot on the team that could very well be crowned the inaugural Common People Dance Eisteddfod champions on the grand finale of Joondalup Festival 2025.

What’s in it for you?

  • 7 choreography lessons with a cracking good dance coach
  • A special souvenir team t-shirt
  • The opportunity to deck yourself out in the 80s duds of your dreams for the big show
  • That fuzzy feeling you get from creating something incredible with your community and mates
  • A chance to be crowned the ultimate lord of dance in the epic final performance in front of an adoring crowd at Craigie Leisure Centre

Go on, sign yourself up to one of the following four teams (and rope in your mate, your neighbour and your gran while you’re at it). No experience? Perfect, just bring some attitude!
