INTRODUCING OUR HOT NEW DIGS: THE JOONDALUP CONTEMPORARY ART GALLERY
If you’ve some to see Characters, The Plants or Jila Kujarra: Two Snakes Dreaming, then you’re one of the very first to experience the Joondalup Contemporary Art Gallery, a dynamic new arts space set to officially open its doors in June this year.
Located within the Joondalup City Library and Civic Centre precinct, the new venue will become a permanent cultural hub for Perth’s northern community, with a multidisciplinary arts space set to host experiences including exhibitions, talks and performances.
Before its official opening in June, Joondalup Festival has exclusively commandeered the space to host three unusual experiences as part of this year’s festival program, giving residents and visitors a little taste of what’s to come.
City of Joondalup Mayor, Albert Jacob said that the Gallery is an incredible coup for Joondalup’s arts and creative community and will be a lasting legacy for the City.
“The launch of Joondalup Contemporary Art Gallery marks a significant milestone in our city’s cultural evolution, and we couldn’t resist the opportunity to give our residents and visitors a litte peek behind the curtains for our flagship annual cultural event, Joondalup Festival. Joondalup Festival has always been about celebrating creativity in bold and unusual ways and the Joondalup Contemporary Art Gallery now ensures that this energy continues year-round,” said Mayor Jacob.
“Through the launch of this new venue we hope to demonstrate a long-term investment to support our creative community, providing a space where artists and audiences can connect during and well beyond the festival,” said Mayor Jacob.
The Joondalup Contemporary Arts Gallery will be open from 10am to 4pm for the duration of Joondalup Festival, running until Saturday 5 April.
