ARTBEAT
We’re painting the town red (and blue, and green, and purple, and yellow…)
Joondalup is set to get a big splash of colour as some of WA’s most talented mural artists descend on the CBD!
Come and watch as the steps and paths outside the Joondalup Library and Administration Centre are transformed from mundane to mind-blowing masterpieces by artists: Justin Martin (Djurandi Dreaming), J.D Penangke, Cale Hummerston and Sioux Tempestt.
Get Involved
Celebrate the first day of Joondalup Festival and the long weekend by getting your hands dirty and leaving your creative mark on the City of Joondalup.
On Saturday, Jade Dolman – the artist behind J.D. Penangke – will host two free interactive sessions for the community to help her paint a giant mural on the paths outside Joondalup Library. There will also be fun games to play, bubbles and of course – books to read! So come along, grab a coffee from one of the local cafes and find a spot in the shade to enjoy the fun!
Painting Sessions:
- Saturday 2 March, 10.00am – 1.00pm
- Saturday 2 March, 2.00pm – 4.00pm
Remember to wear clothes that you won’t mind if they get a splash of paint on, and bring a hat, sunscreen and plenty of water – it’s going to be a hot one!
Urban Rhythms
Loving the new artworks? Then pop into Joondalup Library to check out Urban Rhythms! It’s a free pop-up exhibition with heaps of information about each of the mural artists, including photos of some of their previous work, their sketches and concepts for ARTBEAT and insights into just how much work goes into creating large-scale public artworks.
